Originalmente de nombre Endre Ernö Friedmann en su niñez y adolescencia vivió en Budapest, a los 18 años abandona Hungría, viaja a París donde David Seymour le da empleo como reportero grafico en a reviusa Regard. Entre el año 1932 y 1936 Endre escapa del nazismo estableciéndose en Francia, pero su trabajo no era muy conocido así que era por lo general rechazado, después se cambio el nombre por uno norteamericano adoptando como nombre Robert Capa.
Originally named Endre Friedmann Ernö in his childhood and adolescence lived in Budapest, at 18 he leaves Hungary, he traveled to Paris where meets David Seymour and he gave him a job as a photojournalist in the magazine Regard. Between 1932 and 1936 Endre escaped of nazis and stayed in France, but his work was not so famous and it was usually rejected, then he changed his name to an american name as Robert Capa.
En 1936 estallo la guerra civil española, Capa viajo a España para cubrir este acontecimiento en primera línea, desde el frente de Madrid hasta la retirada en Cataluña, durante esta guerra capa tomo una de las fotos más reconocidas de su carrera y una de las fotografías mas icónicas, es Muerte de un miliciano, protagonista también de controversia ya que hay muchos expertos que afirman que esa fotografía es un montaje, pero también hay muchos otros que creen en la veracidad de esta fotografía.
In 1936 the Spanish Civil War started, Capa traveled to Spain to cover the event on the front line, from the Madrid front to the surrender in Cataluña, during this war capa took one of the most recognized photos of his career and one of the most iconic in photography is Muerte de un miliciano, is also controversial because there are many experts who claim that this photograph is a montage, but also many others who believe that this photograph is real.
En esta foto se aprecia a un hombre que supuestamente fue baleado y en el momento de la captura cayo y murio.

Robert capa también cubrió la segunda guerra mundial, estando presente en los escenarios bélicos de Europa, una de sus fotos más conocidas de esta época es cuando los soldados desembarcan en Normandía.

También fue uno de los fundadores de la agencia magnum, importante agencia dentro de la fotografía.
